Time to pack up your flip flops and put away those bikinis, because autumn is officially here! It’s one of our favourite seasons, and not only because we can legitimately drink hot chocolate again – autumnal shades are seriously flattering and super easy to wear. No wonder the fash pack love this time of year so much!

Our top five autumnal shades

Deep plum
Rich and luxurious, plum is a stunning shade that suits all skin tones. These slim-fit coated trousers look great with a chunky knit and ballet flats, or why not try a deep plum lipstick for a glam night out?

Burnt orange
Warm and fiery, burnt orange is best suited to medium and dark skin tones. This crest sweatshirt is perfect for the preppy trend – wear it layered over a crisp white shirt.

Chocolate brown
A classic autumnal shade, chocolate brown is timelessly stylish. Fairer skins should wear it away from the face to avoid looking washed out – these ankle boots are cute with dresses and jeans alike.

Cool grey
Grey is a key shade for AW15 and a must-have for your new season wardrobe. We love this smart trench coat, which can be dressed up for work with heels or dressed down at the weekend with sneakers.

Pillarbox red
Everyone should have a shade of red to knock ‘em dead – whether it’s a killer pair of heels or a statement lipstick. This LRD (Little Red Dress) is perfect for parties.

Mustard yellow
Tap into AW15’s Seventies trend with this retro shade. It can be tricky to pull off, so avoid block colour and go for a print instead – this mustard yellow leopard print scarf is the epitome of vintage cool when worn with flared denim.
