When she started her blog in 2006, illustrator, photographer, and blogger Garance Doré could never have predicted its success. Published in both English and French, the blog features a combination of Garance’s beautiful illustrations, striking photography, videos, witty personal anecdotes and thoughtful observations. It was one of the first to feature what is now known as ‘street-style’ photography.
Steal Garance’s style with our denim shirt, teamed with a flared black linen skirt and a pair of flat pumps, complete this relaxed look with our leopard print bag and you’re street style ready.
Or if you’re a shorts kind of person, why not try this Mademoiselle R skort or these cargo shorts in classic beige (ours aren’t quite as loose-fitting as those worn by Garance in the pic). Choose a simple ¾ length sleeve T-shirt in a neutral colour or in a brighter colour if that’s more you and then select a scarf from our range to compliment the colour palette you’ve put together.
Accessorise this look with a pair of flat shoes, the openwork detail on these brogues make them cooler for the summer months, and a belt – these leather belts come in a range of colours and are a good bargain at the moment. If you’ve opted for a neutral colour palette, a leopard print belt would work well; check out our bargain option, which comes in a pack of 3, or our splurge option depending on your budget.
When it comes to choosing clothes, Garance suggests that you have a style role model to help keep your look consistent and who you can call on in the case of a potential ‘impulse buy’ disaster – if you can’t imagine your style role model wearing the expensive dress you’re about to purchase, then it’s not for you.
She’s also a big fan of buying online rather than in-store, stating…
“I love buying stuff on the internet because you can find everything, even clothes from last season… …buying online guarantees that you won’t be stuck in the middle of fashion hysteria, and that you’ll only purchase something you really want”.
