There’s a new lifestyle book out, How to Be Parisian Wherever You Are: Love, Style and Bad Habits, that aims to reveal the secrets of Parisian chic.
Co-authored by 4 women who also happen to be best friends – writer Anne Berest, magazine editor Audrey Diwan, film producer Sophie Mas and model Caroline de Maigret, – the book is a light-hearted, tongue in cheek guide to life, love and style the Parisian way.
Full of great tips we particularly like this one:
“Parisian women never try to appear to be something other than what they are. In truth, more than wanting to look young—which is but a fleeting illusion—they want above all to become the best possible version of themselves, outside and in, at any age.”
Of the authors, Caroline de Maigret is one of our favourite French style icons, the daughter of a count and a former swimming champion, de Maigret has brains as well as model looks; she studied literature at the Sorbonne before moving to New York to pursue a modelling career and after returning to Paris in 2006, set up her own music label with partner Yarol Poupaud.
How to sum up Caroline’s style? Effortlessly put together, slightly tomboyish but feminine at the same time, comfortable in her own skin, yes she certainly has that je ne sais quoi! And it’s not just us that admire her – Caroline de Maigret is, along with Jeanne Damas, a favourite of La Redoute’s Autumn Winter 14 guest designer Simon Porte Jacquemus.
There’s another reason why Caroline has a special place in our heart here at La Redoute HQ, those of you who are loyal Redoute shoppers may recognize her as a former face of our Soft Grey Collection.
Caroline modelled for us for 5 seasons between 2004 and 2006 and her relaxed, natural modelling style, along with her winning smile, helped us to capture the spirit and shape the identity of the Soft Grey woman.
Steal Caroline’s style with our Laura Clement denim shirt or checked shirt, and a pair of red heels team with your favourite skinny jeans, leather belt and a clutch bag.
